See My Specialities

My name is Rosie Craven, I have opened my own private counselling practice called RUCounselling so that I can offer both short- and long-term counselling in my speciality field of counselling LGBT+ Identities.

I can offer virtual, over the phone and face to face sessions to suit your needs.

I worked as an Integrative Counsellor at The Leicester LGBT Centre for five years (2016-2021) including working as an Adult Transgender Counsellor between 2018-2021.

I am a registered member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and I am working with The Princes Trust to establish and maintain my practice.

One of the most important things in counselling is finding a counsellor who's right for you

It is essential that there is a trusting and open therapeutic bond

I work hard to establish and maintain a positive therapeutic connection while also encouraging essential boundaries to ensure that the counselling is effective.

Five years in practice has given me experience of working with mental health in a positive and affirming way

I have found that working in a positive way builds on internal strength and confidence.

This encourages a positive therapeutic relationship and experience of counselling.

The form of counselling I practice engages the brain in a way that focuses on positive neural processing

With practice, this will allow you to shift from blocked neural pathways to engaging with new, more positive and free-flowing pathways.

My Core Values

Diversity

Celebrating identities, perspectives, values and cultures

Inclusion

Offering an equitable and equal service to all clients

Confidentiality

Upholding strict protection of your data to ensure your safety

Empowerment

Building on your inner strength to work towards positive change

More About Me

My counselling training at The University of Leicester was focused on Psychodynamic theory,  with the mentality and core values of the Person-Centred Approach.

I have prior experience in goal-focused counselling, particularly when engaging with short-term work. This enables me to offer a process that gives practical skills to manage present difficulty.

I also have a keen interest in behavioural neuroscience as this research enables practitioners to map the change within the brain in terms of neurogenesis and freeing neural pathways to create positive thought flow.
